Purchasing that Special Work of Art

You are walking through an Art Exhibit or an Art Gallery. You see many art works by many artists. It is almost overwhelming. Some you like, some you do not relate to at all. You are looking for that special piece of art. Maybe you have been looking for a couple of years.

You ask yourself what if I purchase it and take it home only to realize I have made a mistake. It may be scary. It does not have to be. That bit of scare may have prevented you from truly enjoying works of art throughout the years. Sometimes maybe you have realized you should have bought a particular art piece only to find out it has already been sold. Now you may think that was the one and you will never find another. Be assured, there is that special work of art out there waiting for you. It was painted for you and if you allow your spirit to lead you to that piece, you will find the piece that touches your soul because you were meant to have it in your life.

Art is an investment, but an investment that never stops giving back to you and usually will rise in value. What it is not is an extravagance or an indulgence. It is an expression of life, love and happenings around the artists, around you, around and in the world we live in. This makes it a necessity. It is actually a record of existence. There are all forms of art. As you look around, you will see there is more art around you than you may have realized, from the clothing you are wearing to the home you live in and the car you drive. Appreciation of art is vital, essential, needful. But then, that is not telling you how to purchase that special work of art to hang in your home.

So, ask yourself this question. What painting reaches out to you and touches your soul? Really speaks to you?

When purchasing a work of art, it must speak to you more so than what colours may be in the piece or matching the right colours in your room. Your personality will be able to choose that right piece if you trust what you feel, your emotions, when viewing the art. You may surprise yourself that the painting will work with the colours already in your home by trusting your emotions because your home is a part of your personality and so will be the work you choose without even trying. Relax. Buy what you feel most drawn toward and do not hesitate. Don't think about the colours matching your room . Buy the painting that you love and cannot resist. You will never regret it. You probably already have an idea of subject matter - floral, gardenscape, landscape, seascape, still life, contemporary, traditional, abstract, impressionistic, realism.

You will always be able to find that special work of art within your budget and you may find that many artists will work with you even on time payments if necessary. With all the art and artists out there, you will be able to find that special work of art. In appreciating art, you will become part of the world of art and also support the arts and artists.

You could also buy more than one piece gradually and have an art collection of beautiful works which could make a stunning statement in you home, in your life. Paintings provide warmth in our homes. They add stories, poetry or serenity, mood, colour to our surroundings and they will always speak to our souls. A painting will emanate harmony in our surroundings and inspire us.

If your home is not yet decorated, find the painting first before decorating your room. Decorate the room around your art and you will be overjoyed with the ambiance and mood and beauty of the room.

Keep in mind that paintings do not always have to hang on a wall. Miniature paintings make a lovely statement simply displayed on a small easel on a side table, cocktail table or on a shelf. A miniature painting can be placed on a shelf with other interesting items, but keep the painting as the object of interest. A larger painting can be gorgeous placed on a large easel in a room. This makes an unusual statement because it is not done that often.
