Twilight Glowing

Transition ..passage from one position, state, stage, or subject to another

Transitory ..brief or short by its very nature, as human life.

Transgress ..to go beyond the limits imposed by (a law or command)  To pass over (any limit or bound.)

There is a time for transition, and to be transitory and to transgress. The painting shown here is in a state of transition and it is transitory as the sky goes from day into evening.   In real life, scenes like this seem to transgress beyond the limits of what the human eye, heart and soul can fathom.  We are in awe of nature.

As you look back on your life, and think of all that has happened without dwelling on the past,  you will see times of transition.  I think some of that transition is small, barely realized; while some is large.   Transition that we may not realize right away is each year of our life, especially when we are young, say in our 20's and 30's and maybe even in our 40's.  Each decade of life has lessons to be learned.  Reevaluating our life is necessary no matter what age.  In looking at life, there are many changes and how you deal with those changes is important.

A transition can be from one job to another, or it can be from one stage of your life to another.  Transition is change.  If one is single and then gets married, that is a passage into a different way of life.  Your responsibilities will include being there for that other person now in your life.

When a woman gives birth, that is certainly a transition.  Raising that child is a transition.  The wife and husband now become mother and father.  If that is not a transition, I don't know what is.

Transition can be a move to another place and meeting all new people.

Making transitions can be life-changing for the better.  It is a process of personal growth.  Moving ahead.  Transitions are discoveries of who you are.  Working your way through that process is a continual transition helping to create a happier, more enhancing quality of life. You will notice more emotional strength. Along with the transition will come more understanding of who you are.

When losing a loved one or facing the illness of a loved one are the times we realize how transitory life can be.  Knowing how transitory many things are in life, and  especially as human beings... making that transition from being a young child into adulthood, and from there then to aging older and older, we know that time does not stand still, nor do our lives.   We certainly don't focus our attention on how short life is for good reasons.  When younger, we believe we have all the time in the world.  When, if we are fortunate, and we find ourselves suddenly much older, we realize we did not have all the time in the world.  So, we must use our time wisely in an ongoing, lifelong process before the sands of time have washed away.  I do not mean to sound negative.  It is not.  It is reality and when we realize that there is much for us to do in this world, then there is no time to waste.

Certainly, life is to be cherished and taken seriously. Take time to laugh and feel good.

So, again, as you look back on your life, seeing those who have been not as happy as they could be, should have been or were meant to be, or people who are unable to see that the world is not always black and white, or think that their way is the only way, or those who are cruel and hostile to other people,  there are other ways to live.   Transitions can be made for the better.

There will always be life-changing experiences...sooner or later.

When we think of living our life as as artist, one of the transitions we strive for is a fulfilling purpose in life with accomplishments.  We want that transition from a beginning artist to a more accomplished artist.  When an artist transgresses into that stage of his or her art career, it will be a large and rewarding transition time in their life.

Of course, that is not all the artists life is totally about.   Giving of yourself and thinking of others is also a part of that fulfilling purpose, and that does not mean living your life for them or constantly trying to please others.  Something even as small as a simple congratulatory pat on the back is always a nice thing to do for another. Just being kind and thoughtful with a smile.  There are many ways.

Ask yourself what or who matters most in your life.  There are many I'm sure....  faith, love, hope, special loved one, children, family, friends, pets, work, exercise, rest and play time, etc. and then be grateful.

But, if there are things in your life that no longer serve your needs or purpose, then change your path. That would be a transition.

Some of us hit ruts in the road, we trip, fall and have a rough time getting back up. Do not catastrophize every rut you come upon.  Do not suppress going forward. These are the times to go beyond the limits, to transgress further. Be able to affirm yourself with encouraging words such as "Nothing will stop me in living my life to the fullest."  And do not anticipate the worse which would drive you directly into negativity.

A life with meaning always makes those difficult times easier to surmont.

Determine the root of the problem, feel positive there will be a solution in confronting the problem.  And, maybe it just takes a change of attitude toward gratitude and the solution will become clear. Besides, there are those times we need the wisdom to know when to turn to others for advice or help.

Begin with small changes.  When thinking of your age... forget it.  Twilight can be glowing.  Do not be thinking that you can't do this or that because of a certain age.  Or perhaps whatever gender you are, you might say you cannot do that.  (Well, true, a man cannot have a child.)  But, you know what I am getting at.

Learn to understand yourself,  learn to understand your true feelings, know what you are most comfortable with or uncomfortable with.  Knowing yourself will give you more information for living a more balanced, and healthier lifestyle.

Through self-knowledge also comes more confidence and the ability to make the right decisions in life and your goals.

Maybe I don't know what I am writing about here, but I am trying to share my thoughts here about life at this time.  Some of those written thoughts may change tomorrow or next week.   Sometimes when life throws a lot of curves, especially when losing those who are dear to you, and thoughts get all tangled up, we spend time trying to evaluate, to decipher and understand what life is all about.  In writing all of the above, that is what I was attempting to do with those three words.

Thank you for reading.

Best to you,

Sandy
