Happily an Artist
I Choose To Do My Art Because. . .

Autumn Passage of Light
I would rather do that then clean the house, do dishes, mop the floor, and clean the toilets. I would also rather paint an apple pie than bake one. Shame on me, I know. But then, who wouldn't rather do something creative than do that dull housework type of thing? Hmmmm, but then too baking a delicious apple pie is also creative. Maybe I will bake one afterall. Could stir up wonderment in my family... my husband, children and grandchildren would probably question who I was.
All kidding aside, I do art because I feel a need to express myself in that way. However, when my house is in order and all cleaned, that creative energy flows through so much better. That I do admit. Some how that creative energy gets all stopped up and clogged up on other stuff that is unrelated to art if it is left to accumulate. Take my word for it, I know. Anyway, Feng Shui has much to say about that.
I have said this before...."Creative Minds Are Seldom Tidy." It is a sign that was given to me from my wise and grown up daughters. It hangs in my kitchen, and is at times my excuse. Maybe I am giving away too much information here.
OR, maybe the above is being mentioned because after the many months of getting ready for and painting for outdoor and benefit art shows, I am NOW catching up on other stuff, as well as the housework. Doing that is on my mind right now. So, here I am writing about it.
It is true though that in order to keep your soul and creative energy moving with your art, you don't want your thoughts to get jammed up on other stuff and distractions such as having to do housework, etc....etc..
It is like a dam that has no flowing water. We want that water to flow and flow. A good flowing dam produces energy! Just as a good creative mind flows with energy in creating that art.
There is a balance we must strive for between our art and other things or happenings. That balance keeps us tuned into our art and helps keep our creative soul and energy alive. Our behavior and habits in our life make a difference. We don't have to be perfect. That is not what we want, do we? There is perfection in imperfection.
The bad behaviors and habits get in the way of us expressing our complete selves. There is so much more to us then what we already do. We must be confident in all we do and take away all those limitations we place upon ourself. Do not allow yourself to be stagnant...or go about your art in a halfhearted manner.
Go kick-butt with your art!!!
And, finally, I choose to do my art because I love nature and enjoy the interpretation of doing it in my work. And in so doing, I hope it brings attention to the conservation and preservation of nature.
Hopefully too, it brings the Gentleness of Joy and Peace and a Quiet Time to those who view my work.
Thank you for reading.
Artfully yours,
Sandy
